Vestnorden Travel Mart 2024

Í hesum døgum er ferðavinnustevnan Vestnorden Travel Mart Havn. 

Hetta er størsta og týdningarmesta sølustevna fyri tey trý londini Føroyar, Ísland og Grønland. Ferðavinnustevnan verður hildin uppá skift í teimum trimum londunum, annað hvørt ár í Íslandi og fjórða hvørt í ávíkavist Føroyum og Grønlandi. Stevnan í ár er tann størsta higartil í Føroyum við yvir 400 luttakarum.

Móttøka var í Tórsgøta seinnapartin, har Elsa Berg, býráðslimur, helt røðu.

Her er brot úr røðuni:

"Maybe, or kanska in Faroese, is a term that we Faroese often use. We often say "maybe" because we always have to adapt to the weather.

But today, we say "maybe" a little less often, because we know how to find solutions and see the weather as an opportunity. Especially when it comes to tourism, the weather can be a challenge.

Rasmus Effersøe writes in his poem Føroyingar, ið her nú koma saman: Mangur útlendskur eg hoyri siga, her er bara grátt út yvir grátt, slíkt teir halda doyvir sinnið niður, regn og mjørki kann ei gera gott. 

But fortunately, attitudes have changed, as the Faroese nature is precisely the strength of our tourism industry. The Faroese landscape is something special, and we see that our visitors also learn to embrace the Faroese nature and weather.

Tourism holds great significance for the Municipality of Tórshavn, which is why we prioritise supporting events and conferences like this one.

A part of the prioritising also includes the preservation and maintenance of historic village paths in the mountains of Tórshavn, as well as in the surrounding villages and islands.

It´s the industry that leads the way. We have tourism companies that skillfully blend the traditonal with the modern. At the same time, individuals are contributing by offering unique experiences, such as small boat tours, knitting clubs, and "Heimablídni" - dining at people´s homes.

Greenland, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands lie like pearls far up in the North Atlantic. Our countries all have much to offer, with beautiful nature and unique culture. But still, we are different. That´s why there´s much to explore at the exhibition, both today and tomorrow. I´m confident that each of you will discover something new and exciting during your visit.
